BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - "Seniors' Night" festivities for men's soccer at Neis Field was dampened as Illinois Wesleyan lost a 3-1 decision to No. 23-nationally ranked Wheaton on Saturday (Oct. 20).
The loss sends IWU to an 11-3-0 record overall and 4-1-0 in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play while the Thunder improved to 12-3-2 overall and 4-0-1, good for first place, in the CCIW.
The Thunder went ahead 1-0, scoring just 3:10 into the game on an "own goal" off a corner kick.

Wheaton tacked on an insurance goal at 73:58 on the seventh tally of the year by Marshall Hollingsworth.
Illinois Wesleyan outshot Wheaton by a 14-9 margin and the Titans also held a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.
Wheaton keeper Ryan Seager allowed one goal and made three saves in 90 minutes while Hegwood allowed three goals and made three saves in the match.
The Titans next host CCIW opponent North Park at 7 p.m. on Wednesday (Oct. 24) at Neis Field.
