DECATUR, Ill. - Senior
Emily Hinchman scored in the 73rd minute and the Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team evened its season mark at 5-5-0 with a 1-0 win at Millikin in Decatur, Ill., on Tuesday (Oct. 2).
With their fourth straight win, the Titans improved to 2-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Big Blue slipped to 3-7-2 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
Hinchman's goal, her fifth of the year, came unassisted at 72:07. She now has 97 career points and passed Caroline Leighton for fifth place all-time in points at the school. Leighton had 95 points from 2005 to 2008.
Junior
Zoie Samaan, the current CCIW "Defensive Player of the Week", had her third shutout in the last week as she made two saves. IWU outshot Millikin 19-5 and the Titans had five shots on goal to three for the Big Blue.
Illinois Wesleyan continues league play on the road with a 7:30 p.m. match at Elmhurst on Saturday (Oct. 6).
