BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The six-match winning streak put together by the Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team was ended in a five-set match loss, 3-2, against No. 10 Elmhurst at the Shirk Center on Wednesday (Oct. 17).

The Titans fell by scores of 15-25, 25-23, 15-25, 27-25, 15-4 and are now 14-10 overall and 3-3 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Bluejays improved to 21-7 overall and 6-0 in league play.

"After starting off the match slowly, I was happy with how we adjusted and continued to fight," said IWU head coach Kim Nelson-Brown, whose team hit .243 in winning set two and .222 in claiming set four against the nationally-ranked Bluejays. "Set five was disappointing to see us to play so flat. We need to build off of the first four sets for this upcoming weekend."

Illinois Wesleyan plays next against No. 17-ranked Wis.-Whitewater at 7 p.m. on Friday in the opening day of the two-day Warhawk Invitational in Whitewater, Wis.

Sophomore Morgan Howard and senior Alex Hill each had nine kills to pace IWU while sophomores Maddie Greybar and Kinzie Schweigert each added eight. Hill also led the team with five total blocks, including two solo.

Greybar and senior Stephanie Polich each had a team-high 12 defensive digs and senior Katie Rhoades made 10 digs. Junior Erin Wachtel gave 33 set assists to IWU hitters.

Elmhurst got 16 kills from Megan Reynolds and 15 out of Marci Novak as the Bluejays hit .241 as a team and .643 in the convincing final set.
