CHICAGO, Ill. - Senior Jordan Zimmer scored 21 points and sophomore Victor Davis got career-highs of 20 points and nine rebounds as Illinois Wesleyan held off a late North Park rally for a 76-70 win in Chicago on Saturday (Jan. 7).

It is the seventh straight win for the Titans, who improved to 11-2 overall and 2-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin ahead of Tuesday night's game against No. 3-ranked Augustana at the Shirk Center.

The Titans led by a 57-37 margin with 10:17 to play but the Vikings went on a 25-7 run to close to within two at 64-62 with 2:42 left to play. But two free throws by senior John Koschnitzky, a baseline basket by Zimmer and two more free tosses by senior Stephen Rudnicki staked the Titans to a 70-62 lead with 1:12 to go.

"Any road win is a good win," IWU head coach Ron Rose told WJBC's Eric Stock in a postgame interview. "I thought is was a grind and nothing was easy all game. Their press took us out of a little of our rhythm and we were fortunate to finish up."

IWU shot .442 from the field (23 of 52) and made four of 19 3-point shots (.211) while connecting on 26 of 36 free throw tries (.735).

The Vikings shot .471 from the floor (24 of 51) and made six of 17 from beyond the arc (.353) and hit 16 of 21 free throws (.762). North Park was guilty of 15 turnovers compared to 18 for Illinois Wesleyan, but the Titans held a big 41-23 edge on the boards.

Mark Holmes scored 23 points, Mike Gabriel added 17 and Emanuel Crosby scored 14 for the Vikings. Gabriel collected a team-high five rebounds.
