Women Soccer Improves to 2-0 with Shutout Win

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Junior Emily Hinchman scored a pair of goals as the Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team blanked Calvin, 4-0, at Neis Field on Saturday, Sept. 4, and improved to 2-0 in 2011.

Hinchman's first goal was the only goal of the first period, coming on a header just 3:27 into the game on an assist by Hannah Ketterling.
Hinchman also scored at 56:23 off a corner kick from senior Lauren Knaack.

Senior Molly O'Brien scored on another assist from Ketterling at 59:19 to give IWU a 3-0 edge and freshman Arin Calamari capped the scoring with an unassisted tally at 88:47 off a Knights' turnover.

The Titans launched 24 shots compared to two for Calvin and Zoie Samaan and Renata Butikis combined for the shutout win facing no shots on goal. IWU had 12 shots on goal.

Illinois Wesleyan plays next on Saturday, Sept. 10 at Denison in Granville, Ohio. Denison eliminated IWU from the NCAA tournament last fall.
