Molly O'Brien had two goals and an assist and five other players also connected for scores as the No. 10-ranked Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team downed Rose-Hulman, 7-1, at Neis Field on Wednesday, Sept. 21.
The Titans Improved to 6-1-0 while the Fighting Engineers fell to 3-4-0 with the loss.
Jristina Dolak opened the scoring at the 18:58 mark when she scored her second of the year on assists from
Tess Bottorff and O'Brien.
The Titans took a 2-0 lead into the locker room at halftime as senior
Amanda Kessel got her first goal of the season at 32:54, heading the ball into the net after a cross from senior
Lauren Knaack.
O'Brien's first goal came on a penalty kick at 49:50 to give IWU a 3-0 lead and the Titans went ahead 4-0 at 53:45 when sophomore
Hannah Ketterling had her shot bounce in after hitting the crossbar.
Less than two minutes later, at 55:05, O'Brien got her sixth goal of the season, off a Rose-Hulman turnover. O'Brien now has 36 career goals and 90 career points, both ranking her fifth all-time in Illinois Wesleyan records.
The Engineers got their only goal at 63:52 when Becca Evans's shot trickled past the IW keeper.
Freshman
Alex Nasca shot one in from 25 yards out after a pass from freshman
Arin Calamari at the 80:30 mark fo give IWU a 6-1 lead and, at 85:11, Calamari scored on a header after a cross from Nasca.
The Titans had 31 shots compared to two for Rose-Hulman and IWU placed 15 shots on goal. Titan keeper
Zoie Samaan made no saves in the first 52:20 and
Renata Butikas made one save in the final 37:40.
