Box Score BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team lost a five-set match to North Central at the Shirk Center on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
The Titans, now 7-6 overall and 0-2 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, lost by scores of 28-26, 23-25, 25-20, 24-25, 10-15. North Central improved to 7-5 overall and 1-1 in the league.
"Statistically we won the match," said IWU head coach
Kim Nelson-Brown. "The passive mistakes we are making are determining the outcome of our sets and ultimately the match."
Sophomore
Stephanie Buhrow had 20 kills, tied for ninth most in a five-game set in IWU game records, while freshman
Maddie Greybar had 16 kills and junior co-captain
Alex Hill had 12. The Titans hit .236 as a team with 63 kills in 178 attempts with 21 errors.

Cydnee Mann each had four blocks while Buhrow added three blocks.
Sophomore
Erin Wachtel led the way with 56 assists and had 15 digs and three service aces and sophomore libero
Sarah Blum had a team-best 24 digs. Greybar also managed 19 defensive digs. Senior
Stacy Hassinger also made 10 digs.
Jenae Harner led North Central in kills (14), digs (16), and service aces (3), while Crystal Wright added 13 kills and Amber Ladwig put up 12. Jessie Fiala finished with 15 digs and Jamie Drozd added 13. Alli Briner recorded three total blocks, and Ryan Lally finished with a team-high 29 assists.
Illinois Wesleyan will next play on Tuesday, Sept. 27, against CCIW foe Augustana at the Shirk Center at 7 p.m.
