Box Score 2 BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Sophomore
Stephanie Buhrow and freshman
Maddie Greybar were named to the all-tournament team as the Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team won two matches on Saturday, Sept. 10 to sweep the title at the six-team Barker Chevrolet Classic I.
The Titans ran their winning streak to four and improved to 6-3 this season as they defeated Webster, 25-22, 25-18, 25-22, before handling previously unbeaten Coe, 25-23, 25-23, 15-25, 25-21.
"With the exception of set three of the Coe match, the team played consistently and aggressively today," said IWU head coach
Kim Nelson-Brown. "The coaches were very pleased with so many aspects of the team's play this weekend. I look forward to seeing this momentum carry over into our College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opener at Millikin on Tuesday."
Against Webster, Buhrow had 14 kills and Greybar had 10 kills and 12 digs. Freshman
Kinzie Schweigert added nine kills and had three blocks.
Defensively, sophomore
Sarah Blum had 15 digs, sophomore
Erin Wachtel had 14 digs to go with her 42 set assists and freshman
Jenny Darrow had 10 digs.
In the win over Coe (who lost for the first time after starting the season with eight straight wins), Buhrow had 19 kills and seven digs while Greybar had 10 kills. Junior
Alex Hill had nine kills and four blocks.
Darrow had a team-high 12 digs and Blum had 10 while Wachtel had 38 set assists.
