IWU Baseball Wins, 4-2, at Millikin Behind Mehn

DECATUR, Ill. - Sophomore lefthander Nick Mehn threw eight strong innings and sophomore Anthony Kopp recorded the save as the Illinois Wesleyan baseball team won, 4-2, at Millikin on Sunday, April 3, for the Titans' sixth straight victory.

The Titans improved overall to 11-4 and are 3-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while Millikin is 4-13 and 0-3 in the league.

Illinois Wesleyan had three hits for runs batted in with two outs, had three bunt hits on a day when the wind was blowing in and also had five sacrifice bunts. The Titans got single runs in the second, fourth, fifth and seventh innings.

Junior leftfielder Mark McDermott, freshman designated hitter Bobby Czarnowski, and senior third baseman Jeff Grodecki each had two hits in the Titans' 11-hit attack and sophomore catcher A.J. Nathan drove home a pair of runs.

IWU plays next at No. 15-ranked Augustana on Tuesday, April 5, in a 2 p.m. doubleheader. The Vikings swept Wheaton over the weekend and are also 3-0 in the CCIW and 13-2 overall.
