BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Seven Illinois Wesleyan pitchers allowed 11 hits and eight walks in a 9-3 loss to Benedictine University at IWU's Horenberger Field on Tuesday, April 12.
The Titans (14-7) fell in a 5-0 hole after an inning and a half before scoring two runs in the bottom of the second.
Sophomore catcher
A.J. Nathan walked and went to second on a balk. After a strikeout,
Kevin Sullivan singled to center field, sending Nathan to third. Following another strikeout, senior
Ryan Hopp singled through the left side to bring home two runs.
The only other Titan run came on a Sullivan home run to lead off the seventh. Junior leftfielder
Mark McDermott and freshman second baseman Jonathan Erickson each had two hits in the loss
Starting pitcher
Jeff Johnson fell to 0-2 as he allowed four earned runs on four hits with a walk and two strikeouts in two innings.
Illinois Wesleyan hosts Augustana in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin game at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Horenberger Field.
