NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's basketball team had a rough shooting night and was handled by Augustana, 76-52, in the championship game of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin tournament in Naperville, Ill., on Saturday, Feb. 26.
The Titans (19-7) will wait to find out their fate for further 2011 play when the NCAA Division III selections are announced at 12 Noon on Monday, Feb. 28, via

Sean Johnson was the lone Titan to score in double figures, hitting for a game-high 20 points, but was 0-for-five from 3-point range as the team finished with a .133 mark from beyond the arc (two-of-15).
Illinois Wesleyan made 18 of 48 from the field (.375) and even struggled at the free throw stripe, making just 14 of 25 (.560),
The Vikings, who were led by the 18-point effort of Brian DiSimone and 14 from Kyle Nelson, improved to 24-3 with the win over a team that had beaten them in Bloomington 70-68 just five nights earlier. Augustana, who receives the CCIW automatic tournament bid, shot .464 (26 of 56) from the field and made seven of 15 (.467) from beyond the 3-point arc. Augustana made 17 of 27 free throws (.630).
The Titans were outrebounded 38-34 but senior
Doug Sexauer snagged a game-high 11 boards. The Vikings committed only eight turnovers compared to 15 for the Titans.
Illinois Wesleyan trailed by only two at 26-24 with 4:05 to play in the first half before Augustana went on a 15-4 run to lead by a 41-28 margin at recess.
The Vikings used an 8-2 run at the start of the second half to build up a 19-point lead at 49-30 with 17:21 to go in the match before IWU battled back with a 14-4 run of its own to get within nine at 53-44 with 12:01 remaining. But Augustana scored the next 13 points over a nearly four minute stretch to claim a 66-44 with 6:55 to go.
