Jordan Zimmer scored 20 of his game-high 24 points in the first half as the Illinois Wesleyan men's basketball team beat Webster, 97-64, at the Shirk Center on Saturday (Dec. 3).
The Titans improved to 5-2 and snapped a two-game losing streak, both on the road in Wisconsin.
Illinois Wesleyan held a huge edge on the boards, outrebounding the Gorloks 48-29. Sophomore
Victor Davis collected a game-high eight rebounds and added 17 points. Sophomore
Nick Anderson came off the bench to score 12 points and snare five rebounds.
In the game, IWU shot .574 from the field (39 of 68) and made 11 of 24 3-point efforts (.458). Zimmer had six 3-pointers, all in the first half. IWU struggled at the free throw line, making just eight of 18 (.444). The Titans shot .629 (22 of 35) in the second half.
The Gorloks (1-5) were led in scoring by Stefan Whittingham with 17. Roman Robinson had 11 and Ahmad Smith came off the bench to contribute 10.
Webster shot just .356 from the floor (21 of 59), made seven of 19 3-pointers (.368) and collected 15 of 18 charity tosses (.833).
Illinois Wesleyan will take a week off during the school's finals week and will play next on Saturday (Dec. 10) at the University of Chicago at 3 p.m.
