IWU Women Soccer Scores 2-1 Win at North Central

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Second half goals by Emily Hinchman and Molly O'Brien pushed the Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team to a 2-1 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin victory at North Central on Saturday, Oct. 8.

The Titans improved to 8-2-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the CCIW with the win and will next host nonconference foe Chapman (Calif.) on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

The Cardinals (now 5-5-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the league) opened the scoring when Katrina McNeela tallied on a header off a corner kick by Victoria Dunn at 28:01, the only first half score.

The Titans got even at 51:57 when junior Emily Hinchman kicked the ball past Cardinal keeper Amy Frazzini on an assist from freshman Julie Govedarcia. Two minutes later, at 53:37, senior Molly O'Brien, unassisted, gave the Titans the game-winning goal with her ninth score of the year.

Illinois Wesleyan goalkeeper Renata Butikas earned her second win of the season, having to make just one save while Frazzini made 11 saves for the Cardinals. Illinois Wesleyan outshot North Central, 20-3, and had 13 shots on goal compared to two for the Cardinals.
