KENOSHA, Wis. - The Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team lost in three sets to the No. 7-nationally ranked Carthage Lady Reds in Kenosha, Wis., on Tuesday, Oct. 4.
The Titans lost by scores of 25-19, 25-21, 25-19 and fell to 10-9 overall and 1-3 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.
Carthage improved to 16-2 overall and 4-0 in the league. Carthage has won 12 matches in a row, the third-longest winning streak in school history.
"it was a very disappointing loss tonight," said IWU head coach
Kim Nelson-Brown. "We played extremely tentatively and not like the team we've seen the last couple of weeks. Hopefully we can get back on track for this Friday." On Friday, IWU travels to Anderson, Ind., where the Titans will play Anderson at 5 p.m. and against Transylvania at 7 p.m. (both Eastern time).

Maddie Greybar led Illinois Wesleyan with nine kills and freshman
Kinzie Schweigert and sophomore
Stephanie Buhrow each added eight.
Sophomore
Erin Wachtel had 17 set assists and senior
Stacy Hassinger had 16, while the defense was led by sophomore
Sarah Blum's 16 digs. Greybar had 12 digs and sophomore
Miya Thalmann contributed 11.
IWU hit only .023 in losing set one with nine kills and eight errors in 44 attempts.
In set two, IWU led early by a 4-1 score before being tied at 4-4. The Titans led 5-4 when the Lady Reds went on a 6-1 run and claimed a 10-6 lead that they never relinquished. IWU hit .267 in set two with 15 kills and three errors in 45 tries.
Set three also saw the Titans leading by a 12-9 score before Carthage went on a five-point run and take a 14-12 lead. The Lady Reds, who hit .306, outscored IWU 16-7 the rest of the way for the win. IWU had a .171 hitting percentage with 14 kills and seven errors in 41 attempts.
