Box Score 2 BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan juniors
Alex Hill and
Katie Rhoades were named to the all-tournament team as the Titans swept their two Saturday (Oct. 29) matches at the Barker Classic III in the Shirk Center. IWU was 4-0 for the weekend and improved to 18-14.
Illinois Wesleyan defeated Indiana Northwest in three sets (25-15, 25-14, 25-15) and also handled Anderson in three sets (25-20, 25-20, 25-14).
"I was very pleased with each team member's performance this weekend," said IWU head coach
Kim Nelson-Brown. "Our middles were effective in each match due to our strong passing. Freshman
Cydnee Mann stepped in and did a great job both blocking and offensively and sophomore
Sarah Blum passed incredibly well."
Against IU-Northwest, Rhoades had a team-high 11 kills and Hill had nine while Mann had eight. Senior
Stacy Hassinger handed out 34 assists and had seven digs while Blum led the team with eight digs. Mann also had a team-high four total blocks.
In the victory over Anderson, Mann had 10 kills while Hill and freshman
Maddie Greybar added nine and Rhoades had seven. Hassinger had 37 assists and 11 digs while Blum led the team with 17 digs and Greybar contributed 14. Mann made a team-high three total blocks.
Also named to the all-tournament team were Shelby Switzer, North Park University; Beth Dwyer, Monmouth College; Taylor Stone, Anderson University; and Kelsey England, Millikin University.
Illinois Wesleyan plays at Elmhurst at 7 p.m. on Tuesday (Nov. 1) in the play-in match for the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin tournament.
