Titan Men's Soccer Loses 1-0 Match at Wheaton

WHEATON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer team lost a 1-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin match to Wheaton at Joe Bean Stadium in Wheaton on Wednesday (Oct. 26).

The Titans slip to 3-2-1 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin and 8-7-1 overall while the Thunder is also 3-2-1 in the CCIW and 9-7-2 overall.

The only goal of the match came from freshman Adam Blackman with 7:13 to play in the contest with assists from Stephen Russo and Corey Weaver. It was Blackman's fourth goal of the season.

Wheaton outshot IWU, 21-12 and had seven shots on goal compared to six for the Titans. The teams had eight shots apiece in the first half.

Junior Tim Hegwood made six saves in net for the Titans and his counterpart for Wheaton, Ryan Seager, made five. A late team save by Wheaton squelched an IWU offensive charge when Seager strayed from the six-yard box.

Illinois Wesleyan hosts Carthage at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 29) for “Seniors' Day” at Neis Field, honoring Aaron Moore and Stewart Turner-Jackson.
