IWU Women's Soccer Takes Over First in CCIW with Win

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Senior Molly O'Brien got the game's only goal and sophomore Renata Butikas (shown) had the shutout in goal as Illinois Wesleyan got a 1-0 home field win over Augustana on Saturday (Oct. 22) and moved into first place in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.

With the Homecoming game win, the Titans are 4-0-1 in the league while Wheaton's 2-1 double overtime loss to Elmhurst on Saturday leaves them at 4-1-0 and sets up a battle on Tuesday night (Oct. 25) when Illinois Wesleyan meets the Thunder in Wheaton at 7:30 p.m.

After a scoreless first half, O'Brien collected her 15th goal of the season at 57:27 on a shot from far right side of box into top left corner of goal. The assist went to sophomore Tillie Bill.

Butikas had one save in the match while Augustana's keeper Kayla Radloff had six saves as IWU outshot the Vikings, 16-4. The Titans had three corner kicks to two for Augustana, who slipped to 10-6-1 overall and 3-2-0 in CCIW play.
