Second Half Goals Give IWU Men 2-1 Win over Vikings

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Second half goals from Jared Casey and Adam Flaugher (shown) gave the Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer team a 2-1 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin win over Augustana at Neis Field on Homecoming Saturday (Oct. 22).

The Titans improved to 8-6-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the CCIW while Augustana dipped to 11-6-0 overall and 1-4-0 in the league.

The first IWU goal came at 69:55 from Casey on an assist from Danny Kenny on a corner kick that tied the game at 1-1.

Augustana had taken a 1-0 lead at 59:24 on an unassisted goal from Nick Wolfe, his third of the season.

Flaugher's game-winning tally came as a header off a free kick from Kenny at 86:17.

Junior keeper Tim Hegwood made five saves for the Titans while his Augustana counterpart, Tyler Cowherd, made four saves. The Titans outshot the Vikings, 13-9, and had four corner kicks compared to one for Augustana.

Illinois Wesleyan plays next at Wheaton on Wednesday (Oct. 26) at 7:30 p.m.
