IWU Men's Soccer Shut Out at Washington U.

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer team lost by a 3-0 score at No. 8-nationally ranked Washington U. in a nonconference match in St. Louis on Wednesday (Oct. 19).

The Titans dip to 7-6-1 overall while the Bears improved to 13-1-0.

IWU was outshot, 21-9, and the Bears put seven shots on goal compared to three for the Titans, coming from junior Kyle Gorgol, sophomore Mitchell Killough and freshman Jared Casey.

Junior keeper Tim Hegwood allowed all three goals and made four saves in nearly 77 minutes between the posts and senior Stewart Turner-Jackson played the final 13 mnutes.

The Bears scored in the ninth minute, at 8:10, on the first goal of the year by Peter Jebson with an assist to Patrick McLean.

Zachary Query got the other two Washington U. goals, the first at 40:40 on a header after an assist to Dylan Roman, and the second at 69:47 on an assist from Cody Costakis.

Illinois Wesleyan returns to College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play Saturday at 4 p.m. against Augustana at Neis Field in the IWU Homecoming game.
