Gorgol's Goal Gives IWU Coach Lakin 100th Career Win

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan head men's soccer coach Ryan Lakin got his 100th career victory as IWU topped Elmhurst, 1-0, on Saturday, Oct. 15 at Neis Field.

Junior captain Kyle Gorgol provided all the necessary offense in the match, scoring his eighth goal of the year, unassisted, at 77:17 on a blast from the top of the box. The game featured 41 fouls (16 on IWU) and seven yellow cards.

Lakin is now 100-87-17 in his 12th year as a men's soccer head coach. He has a 46-53-13 record in his seventh year at Illinois Wesleyan and had a 54-29-3 mark in five years at Millikin (1998-2002).

IWU outshot Elmhurst, 10-2, and Titan keeper Tim Hegwood made one save compared to five for Elmhurst keeper John Reglin.

Illinois Wesleyan plays next at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at Washington U. in St. Louis.
