BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Junior midfielder
Kyle Gorgol got three goals as the Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer team shutout Millikin, 6-0, at Neis Field on Wednesday, Oct. 12.
Adam Flaugher started the scoring for IWU (now 6-5-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) at 19:46 on an unassisted goal. Gorgol got the first of his hat trick at 29:37 unassisted as he kicked it in the net after a goalie save.
Gorgol scored again at 35:16 on an assist from sophomore
Angelo Catalano with a long corner kick.
Gorgol's third goal came at 65:52 with helpers from junior
Frank Marchiori and junior
Sam Peniak to make the score 4-0.
It was 5-0 at 69:57 when freshman
John Pisani scored for the first time this season on assists from Marchiori and sophomore defender
Declan Geraghty and sophomore
Mitchell Killough ended the scoring at 85:10 on a shot into the upper left corner of the goal from 28 yards away.
IWU outshot Millikin, 23-9, and junior keeper
Tim Hegwood had one save while senior
Stewart Turner-Jackson had four saves in a reserve role.
Millikin fell to 0-13-0 overall and 0-3-0 in CCIW play.
Illinois Wesleyan continues CCIW play with a 3:30 p.m. home match on Saturday, Oct. 15 against Elmhurst.
