COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team lost a pair of three game matches on the first day of the Molten Volleyball Pikes Peak Challenge in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The Titans lost to Carleton by scores of 25-15, 25-6, 25-17 before falling to Otterbein, 25-15, 25-21, 25-13.
Against Carleton, senior
Lori Johnson had six kills to pace IWU. Sophomore
Eryn Finet and junior
Gaby Johnson each had four kills while sophomores
Katie Rhoades and
Alex Hill each had two. The Titans had 22 kills in 79 attempts with 23 errors for a -.013 hitting percentage.
Freshman
Sarah Blum had five digs and freshman
Miya Thalman and junior
Stacy Hassinger each had four. Hassinger led the team with 17 assists.
Against Otterbein,
Gaby Johnson had five kills and
Lori Johnson and Hassinger each had four. The Titans again suffered from a poor hitting percentage, making just 20 kills with 24 errors in 82 attempts for a -.049 percentage. Hassinger led IWU with 13 assists and six digs while Blum also had six digs.
IWU plays the host school Colorado College and perennial national powerhouse LaVerne on Saturday.
