PELLA, Iowa - The Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team lost in three sets to the host school in the Central College Classic in Pella, Iowa, on Friday, Sept. 24.
The Titans fell to 6-8 as they lost by scores of 17-25, 20-25, 22-25.
"We had moments that we looked really good, but then turned around and gave up five or six unearned points," said IWU head coach
Kim Nelson-Brown. "Again, we are still struggling with consistency and at times, lacking a killer instinct."
Senior
Lori Johnson had nine kills to pace the Titans, while junior
Gaby Johnson had six kills and freshman
Stephanie Buhrow and sophomores
Alex Hill and
Eryn Finet each had five kills.
Freshmen
Sarah Blum and
Erin Wachtel led Illinois Wesleyan with 14 and 12 digs, respectively, and junior setter
Stacy Hassinger had 25 assists and eight digs.
The Titans take on Buena Vista at 9:30 a.m. and Rockford College at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday in the tournament.
