BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team won three straight games over Webster by scores of 25-19 at the Shirk Center on Friday, Sept. 17 to improve to 6-4.
Junior
Gaby Johnson and freshman
Stephanie Buhrow led the Titans with 11 kills each while seniors
Lori Johnson and
Teresa Kirk each had nine.
"I wasn't sure how the team was going to come out in our match tonight after the conference loss to Elmhurst on Tuesday," said IWU coach
Kim Nelson-Brown. "I was very pleased with how the team responded and our offense was more productive. Hopefully we can continue this momentum into tomorrow's matches at Wheaton College tournament."
Junior
Stacy Hassinger had 38 set assists and led the team with 18 defensive digs while freshman
Sarah Blum had 11 digs and Kirk added 10.
Buhrow led IWU with four blocks while Gaby and
Lori Johnson and sophomore
Rachel Soltwedel each had two.
IWU plays Kalamazoo at 12 p.m. and the University of Chicago at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, in the Wheaton Five-Team Tournament.
