BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team evened its record at 3-3 and stretched its winning streak to three matches with two 3-0 wins over Beloit and Illinois College in the Barker Classic on Friday, Sept. 10 at the Shirk Center.
The Titans beat Beloit, 25-19, 25-18, 25-12 and downed Illinois College, 25-16, 25-18, 25-13.
"One of the areas that we've been struggling with has been blocking," said IWU head coach
Kim Nelson-Brown. "In the first match (against Beloit), the team did a nice job closing the block and penetrating over to terminate plays. In the second match, we came up with some great digs and were able to execute them for points."
Against Beloit, senior
Teresa Kirk led IWU with 12 kills and 10 defensive digs as the team had a .287 hitting percentage. Junior
Gaby Johnson had eight kills and senior
Lori Johnson had seven.
Sarah Blum led the team with 15 digs and freshman
Erin Wachtel made four service aces.
Junior
Stacy Hassinger had 38 assists and sophomore
Alex Hill had four blocks.
In the match against Illinois College, the Titans had a .258 hitting percentage and freshman
