WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team, ranked No. 24 in the preseason Division III poll, got two first half goals and held on for a 2-1 win at Wisconsin-Whitewater in the season opener on Sept. 1.
Freshman
Tillie Bill opened the scoring for the Titans at the 33:16 mark on an assist from senior
Kelsey Porter, and freshman
Hannah Ketterling found the goal with a shot at the 41:12 mark in the first half with an assist going to Annie O'Brien.
The lone Warhawks' goal came from Kelsey Finn on a penalty kick at 79:47.
The Titans outshot Wis.-Whitewater, 20-6, and had eight shots on goal compared to two for UWW. Senior keeper
Alli Novak made one save in the win.
Illinois Wesleyan opens its home season with a 4 p.m. match against Principia on Saturday, Sept. 4.
