BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's tennis team lost a 5-3 decision to North Central in the first round of the 2010 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin championships on Friday, May 7 at Bloomington's Evergreen Racquet Club.
The Titans, now 14-8 this season, will face Elmhurst for fifth place at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 8.
The teams split their singles matches with each claiming three wins.
Tom Deschler was a winner at No. 2 singles, topping Matt Boguslawski, 5-7, 6-3, 6-1, while
Nick Kenaga defeated Chris Bennorth, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 and
Michael Christison was a winner at No. 4 against Naveed Heydari, 6-0, 6-3.
It took only two doubles matches for the Cardinals to finish IWU off. Sam Sweeney and Boguslawski defeated Deschler and
Brian Piotrowski, 8-0, at No. 1 while at No. 2 doubles, Bennorth and Heydari beat the IWU team of Christison and
Sandeep Kola, 9-8 (7-3).
The No. 3 doubles match did not need to be completed.
