BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's tennis team stands at 13-4 after defeating Eureka 9-0 on April 20 and losing to St, Francis, 7-2, at home on April 21.
The 13 dual match wins is the most in a single season for an IWU men's tennis team since the 2004 team was 20-5.
Only six other Titan teams dating back to 1963 have registered double figure dual match victories in a season and only two others have won 13 or more matches - 1997 (15-5), 1993 (13-3).
The 2003 team (12-10) had 12 victories, the 2002 (11-9) and 2000 teams (11-7) both had 11 wins and the 1996 squad was 10-6.
The lone winners against St. Francis were
Steven Hayman at No. 5 singles as he topped Erick Dobrzynski, 2-6, 6-1, 6-4, and
Sandeep Kola at No. 6 singles, who beat Nikola Milankovic, 7-5, 4-6, 10-8.
Hayman and Kola also won at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, at Eureka. Hayman beat Justin Hayse, 6-0, 6-1, and Kola was victorious over David Doherty, David, 6-1, 6-0.
