DECATUR, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan scored three in the first on a
Casey McIntosh home run and won game one, 5-1, then scored in six of seven innings in a 13-2 game two win over Millikin in Decatur in a doubleheader on Friday, April 2.
Jason Pankau pitched eight innings, allowing seven hits and striking out seven and walking three with his only run coming in the bottom of the first.
Marty Roche allowed one hit in pitching the ninth.
Senior second baseman
Brett Moore led off the game with a single and senior
Mike Morrissey was hit by a pitch. McIntosh then hit his home run to stake the Ttans to a 3-0 lead.
IWU added a pair of runs in the seventh when freshman shortstop
Anthony Lopez singled, stole second and went to third on a wild pitch before being driven home by a Moore single. Morrissey, who had doubled and went to third on a wild pitch, came home on a
Marc North pinch-hit sacrifice fly.
In game two, Moore had four hits,
Kraig Ladd had three hits and drove home three runs and McIntosh had two hits, including another home run, with three runs batted in. Lopez and
Kevin Callahan also had two hits as the Titans had 15 hits and took advantage of seven Big Blue errors.
Senior
Brent Kulavic pitched the complete game, striking out eight and allowing seven hits and just one earned run. He walked no one.
The Titans improved to 7-8 overall and 2-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Big Blue dropped to 3-13 overall, 0-2 CCIW.
The two teams are scheduled to play at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 3, at IWU's Horenberger Field.
