MONMOUTH, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's tennis team improved to 4-0 in the 2010 season with wins over Monmouth (7-2) and Quincy (5-4) on Saturday, March 6.
Against both teams, the No, 1, No. 2 and No. 4 singles players were winners.
At No. 1,
Brian Piotrowski defeated Monmouth's Sam Graf, 6-1, 6-2, and Quincy's Rodrigo Marroquin, 6-4, 6-1.
At No. 2 singles,
Tom Deschler beat Chris Utterback of Monmouth, 6-4, 6-4, and Baxter Grace of Quincy, 6-4, 6-2.
And at No. 4 singles,
Michael Christison was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Gabe Cheng of Monmouth and defeated John Irish of Quincy, 6-4, 6-3.
Piotrowski and Deschler teamed up at No. 1 doubles to beat Monmouth's Tyler Lampe and Chris Utterback, 8-6, and handled Quincy's Alonso and Rodrigo Marroquin by an 8-4 score.
The No. 2 doubles team of Christison and
Nick Kenaga beat Monmouth's Cheng and Ben Morrow, 8-6, and took care of Quincy's Grace and Jeff Terry, 8-2.
