IWU Men's Basketball Wins in Decatur, 75-66

DECATUR, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's basketball team started strong, scoring 20 of the game's first 26 points, and handily defeated Millikin, 75-66, in Decatur on February 10.

The Titans improved to 18-4 overall and 9-2 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin as junior Doug Sexauer was 10-of-12 from the field and finished with 23 points and nine rebounds. Junior Sean Johnson added 19 as only two Titans were in double digit scoring.

After vaulting out to the 20-6 lead, the Titans held on to lead 46-28 at the half and led by as many as 22 (56-34) with 13:57 to play in the game. IWU finished at 47 percent shooting from the field (27 of 57) and made 10-of-19 3-point efforts. Millikin shot 43 percent from the field (23-of-53), committed 14 turnovers (to nine for IWU) and made four-of-13 shots from beyond the arc (31 percent).

The Big Blue, who fell to 7-15 overall and 2-9 in the CCIW, got 19 points off the bench from Colby Long and starter Joscar Demby scored 17 and had eight rebounds as Millikin outrebounded Wesleyan, 34-33.

The Titans will honor senior Sean Dwyer when they host Wheaton at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13.
