ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's basketball team saw a late lead escape and lost in overtime, 83-75, at Washington U. in St. Louis on Saturday, December 18.
The No. 12-ranked Titans are now 7-2 while the Bears improved to 5-4.

The Titans led by a 56-49 score with 7:17 to play in the game but the Bears caught up and eventually tied the game at 68-68 with a 3-pointer at the buzzer by Alan Aboona. Washington U. scored first in the extra session and outscored IWU, 15-7 in the overtime.

Doug Sexauer scored 19 points and grabbed a game-high seven rebounds. The teams were even at 32-32 on the boards.
IWU, who led by a 31-30 margin at halftime, shot at a .424 percentage from the field (25 of 59) and connected on nine of 27 3-point free tries (.333).
The Bears shot .549 percent (28 of 51) from the field and made eight of 18 (.444) from beyond the 3-point arc.
IWU made 16 of 19 free throws (.842) and the Bears made 19 of 27 (.704).
Washington U. got 21 points each from Spencer Gay and Dylan Richter.
Illinois Wesleyan's next action will be against Gettysburg College at the Cal Lutheran Tournament in Thousand Oaks, Calif., on December 29.
