LISLE, Ill. - The No. 4-nationally ranked Illinois Wesleyan men's basketball team opened its season with a 78-64 win at Benedictine University in Lisle, Ill., on Monday, Nov. 15.

Matt Schick led the Titans with a career-high 18 points, connecting on 6-of-9 from the field, made all four of his free throw tries and snared six rebounds. Schick's previous career high was 10 points as a freshman against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

Travis Rosenkranz scored 13 in the win while senior
Sean Johnson added 11 points, senior
Doug Sexauer scored 10 and had a team-high four assists, and junior
Stephen Rudnicki had 10 points before fouling out.
IWU shot .464 from the field (26 of 56) and connected on 7 of 20 3-point field goals (.350) while the Eagles shot only .364 from the field (22 of 57) and was 5-of-22 in 3-point field goal tries (.227).
IWU also made 19 of 23 free throws (.826).
Illinois Wesleyan outrebounded the Eagles, 40-31, and were led by senior
Duncan Lawson with 11 boards.
Nate Green scored 14 to lead the Eagles while Jerrell Tribble had 13 points and Dario Jokic added 11 in the season opener.
The Titans led by one at 34-33 at halftime but led by a 22-9 margin earlier in the game. The game was tied at 41-41 with 17:16 to play in the game before IWU reeled off seven straight points to take a lead it never relinquished.
Illinois Wesleyan hosts Aurora at 8 p.m. Friday in the first round of the Titan Tip-Off Tournament and will play against either Ripon or Buena Vista at 5 or 7 p.m. on Saturday.
