ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan volleyball Titans fell in four sets at Augustana on Tuesday, Oct. 5, and are 9-12 overall and 0-4 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. The Vikings, who have won four of their last five, improved to 9-13 overall and 3-1 in the CCIW.

Freshman Stephanie Buhrow had 10 kills and five blocks for IWU, who lost by scores of 23-25,25-22,14-25,20-25. Sophomore Alex Hill had nine blocks and five kills and junior Gaby Johnson added seven kills as the team had 38 total kills and a .202 hitting percentage.

Freshman Sarah Blum had 15 defensive digs and senior Lori Johnson had 10 while junior setter Stacy Hassinger handed out 31 assists and also had seven digs.

"I've never coached a team that has lacked so much self-confidence and competitiveness," said IWU head coach Kim Nelson-Brown. "Losing is contagious as much as winning is. We need to figure out how to break this cycle and get back on track."

Illinois Wesleyan is idle until Tuesday, October 12, at 7 p.m. when they host CCIW favorite Carthage, who is tied at No. 7 in the Oct. 5 American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll.
That game will be the "Dig For A Cure" match and all proceeds will be donated to a local family whose lives have been touched by cancer.
