BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan lost a 3-0 decision to Wheaton in men's soccer on Wednesday, October 27, at Neis Field on “Seniors' Night” at IWU.
The Titans fell to 6-7-2 overall and 3-2-1 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.
Wheaton has won seven in a row and is 9-6-3 overall and 6-0-0 in the CCIW. The win secures the league championship for the Thunder and earns them the top seed in the CCIW men's soccer tournament beginning Nov. 3.
The Thunder scored their first goal at 28:24 on a shot by Jason Lollar with an assist to Drew Golz. In the second half, at 55:41, Stephen Mesko scored an unassisted goal on a one-on-one breakaway.
Jordan Golz ended the scoring at 62:37 with a breakaway tally after a long pass from Chad Musgraves.
Wheaton outshot the Titans, 15-7, and IWU senior keeper
Frank Gorg made six saves. Thunder goalie Ryan Seager made two saves.
The Titans will play their final regular season match at Carthage on Sunday, Oct. 31, at 4:30 p.m.
