Gorgol's Second Half Goals Give Titans Win at Elmhurst

ELMHURST, Ill. - Two second half goals by sophomore Kyle Gorgol gave the Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer team a 3-2 win at Elmhurst on Saturday, Oct. 16.

The Titans improved to 6-5-2 overall and 3-0-1 in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play while the Bluejays fell to 7-8-0, 1-4-0 in the CCIW. 

Elmhurst struck first in the game, scoring at 5:05 on a goal by Brian McMahon, his fourth of the year, on an assist from Jon Brehm. 

The Titans tied the issue at 27:40 on the fifth goal of the season for sophomore Tim Griffin off Gorgol's assist. 

Gorgol got his first goal of the year, unassisted, at 65:01 to put Illinois Wesleyan ahead 2-1 but Elmhurst's Brehm scored his sixth goal of the year just three minutes later at 68:16 with an assist to Luke Froehlich, tying the score at 2-2. 

Gorgol's game-winning goal came at 73:24 with assists to Griffin and senior Tom Marlow

IWU senior keeper Frank Gorg made five saves in the victory. 

The Titans have a week to prepare for their next match, a 1 p.m. contest at Augustana on Saturday, Oct. 23.
