Titan Volleyball Win Streak at Nine

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team ran its winning streak to nine matches, improving to 10-2 with victories over St. Scholastica and Webster on Sept. 19.

The Titans got home court wins over St. Scholastica 25-16, 25-22, 23-25, 25-19, and Webster 25-19, 25-23, 25-15.

"In the first match, the team did a great job with mixing up our offense and our ball control was very solid," said IWU coach Kim Nelson-Brown. "Against Webster, we struggled getting our passing and defense back up to where it was in the first match. Overall, it was a good day and gave us an opportunity to try some new things." 

In the win against St. Scholastica, junior Lori Johnson had 14 kills with 12 coming from senior Emily Hagen and 10 from senior Amy VanDerVoorn. Sophomore Stacy Hassinger had 45 assists and nine digs and senior Jackie Wrobel had 18 digs with Lori Johnson contributing 17.

In the victory over Webster, Lori Johnson again made 14 kills and Hagen had 10. Hassinger had five digs and three service aces to go along with 45 assists. Wrobel had a team-high 13 digs.

IWU plays next at Elmhurst on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
