Titans Sweep Four Matches in Volleyball Tourney

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team improved to 7-2 with two more wins in the Barker Chevrolet Classic I at the Shirk Center on Sept. 12 and swept all 12 sets in the weekend event.

Illinois Wesleyan's Stacy Hassinger and Lori Johnson were chosen to the all-tournament team along with Laura Toth and Caitlin O'Leary of Beloit, Kayla Leyden of Benedictine and Laura Dudgeon of Cornell.

IWU will open College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play against Wheaton at the Shirk Center on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m.

DAY TWO RESULTS

On the second day of the tourney, Illinois Wesleyan defeated Buena Vista 25-13, 25-20, 25-22, and then claimed a win against Milwaukee School of Engineering 25-7, 25-15, 25-14.

The Titans have now won 16 straight sets and five straight matches.

In the win against Buena Vista, Emily Hagen led the way with 11 kills while Lori Johnson had eight and Gaby Johnson made seven. Stacy Hassinger has 31 assists and seven digs with Amy VanDerVoorn making a team-high nine digs and Jackie Wrobel adding eight.

Against MSOE, freshman Alex Hill led the team with seven kills with Lori Johnson making six and Hagen and Gaby Johnson adding five each, Hassinger had 26 set assists and Wrobel made a team-best 14 defensive digs.

DAY ONE RESULTS
The Titans beat Cornell, 25-20, 25-17, 25-14, before downing Benedictine, 25-22, 25-21, 25-22, to run their winning streak to three matches.
Gaby Johnson had nine kills in the win vs. Cornell while Lori Johnson, Jessica Spence and Emily Hagen all added eight kills each. Stacy Hassinger had 32 assists and Jackie Wrobel had 16 digs while Amy VanDerVoorn had nine digs and five kills.
In the win against Benedictine, Lori Johnson had 12 kills while Hagen and Hassinger each had seven. Hassinger made 28 assists while Wrobel and VanDerVoorn had 14 and 10 digs, respectively.
