Jason Pankau allowed one hit in 7 1/3 innings at North Central

Titans Win One-Hitter at North Central

Box Score NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Jason Pankau, Kevin Sweeney and Paul Kabbes combined to limit North Central to one hit in a 9-0 Illinois Wesleyan baseball win at Naperville on April 16.

Pankau pitched 7 1/3 innings and struck out four while allowing the one hit to earn the pitching victory.

Illinois Wesleyan (18-8, 9-3 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) opened the scoring in the first when Brett Moore doubled to left center, went to third on a bunt single by Tim Marzec and scored when Casey McIntosh grounded into double play.

The Titans added three in the fifth when Kevin Goshorn led off with a double to left center. Bob Huppert singled through the left side, sending Goshorn to third and Pat Garvey singled to left field to bring home Goshorn. Charlie Capozzoli walked to load the bases. Moore then grounded into double play before Marzec singled home Capozzoli and Garvey.

IWU added two runs in both the sixth and seventh. In the sixth, Jeff Grodecki reached on an error by the third baseman and went to second on a Goshorn single. Huppert reached on a fielder's choice, forcing Goshorn at second and sending Grodecki to third. Garvey then tripled to centerfield for two RBI.

With one out in the seventh, Marzec walked and Ladd singled with two out. Grodecki then singled through the left side to drive home Marzec and Goshorn singled to knock home Ladd.

The Titans tacked on one more in the ninth when Marzec and McIntosh opened the frame with singles. Ladd reached on a fielder's choice and Marzec scored.
