Box Score BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Carthage Red Men claimed a 3-2 decision over Illinois Wesleyan on a cold afternoon at Horenberger Field on Friday, April 10.

Carthage improved to 16-4 overall and 9-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin as they scored single runs in the first, fourth and sixth innings. The Titans (15-7, 7-2 CCIW) got a pair of runs in the sixth when, with two outs, senior Kevin Goshorn walked and sophomore third baseman Jeff Grodecki got one of his two hits. Junior centerfielder Kraig Ladd sliced a ball that leftfielder Chris D'Angelo misplayed for a two-base error.

Mario Perez was the winning pitcher, allowing five hits and striking out six in nine innings, while Pat Kirchhofer (2-3) went seven innings, scattered nine hits and struck out four.

The teams will now play a doubleheader at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 11.
