BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan baseball team swept a doubleheader from Elmhurst at Horenberger Field, winning game one, 12-3, before taking a 5-3 decision in game two.
The Titans improved to 11-5 overall and 3-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Bluejays fell to 8-6, 0-3 CCIW.
In game one, every Titan starting position player got a hit as IWU pounded out 16 hits. Junior second baseman
Brett Moore and
Tim Marzec each had three hits and junior first baseman
Casey McIntosh had a grand slam home run and five runs batted in. Marzec and senior designated hitter
Kevin Goshorn also home runs. Moore, Marzec and McIntosh all scored two runs as the Titans plated one in the first, seven in the second, two in the fourth and one more in both the eighth and ninth.
Junior righthander
Pat Kirchhofer (1-2) was the winning pitcher, striking out eight in seven innings.
Kevin Sullivan finished up with two innings of two-hit relief, striking out two.
McIntosh added three more hits with two RBI in the nightcap while Moore collected two more hits and
Mike Morrissey had two hits with a home run.
Junior
Paul Kabbes was the winning pitcher, throwing the first five innings and striking out four while allowing six hits. Junior
Geoff Page picked up the save, going four hitless innings, striking out three and walking two.
