Box Score ELMHURST, Ill. - On a frigid day in Elmhurst, the Illinois Wesleyan baseball team held on for a 4-2 win over the Bluejays to open the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin season.
The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was cancelled due to the raw and windy weather conditions. The game could be made up as part of a doubleheader in Bloomington on Monday, March 30, but that is yet to be determined.
Lefthander
Joe Froelich improved to 4-0 as he scattered seven hits and struck out eight in the win. Junior
Alex Tosi pitched the final two innings to earn the save,
The Titans opened the scoring with two in the first.
Brett Moore walked, advanced to second on a passed ball an went to third on a
Tim Marzec single. On a failed pickoff attempt, Marzec went to second and Moore scored, Marzec scored on a hit by
Kraig Ladd.
IWU added one in the seventh and one more in the eighth.
In the seventh inning,
Jeff Grodecki led off with a double to centerfield. After Moore and Marzed walked,
Casey McIntosh provided a run-scoring single.
In the eighth, Ladd led off with a walk, went to second on a sacrifice and to third on a ground out before a
Pat Garvey single brought him home.
