Titans Down Benedictine, 7-2, in Home Opener

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan Titans improved to 8-5 with their third straight win, taking a 7-2 decision over Benedictine in the Jack Horenberger Field home opener.

The Titans got three runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth and seventh. Kevin Goshorn smacked a two-run home run, his fourth of the year, and had three RBI while Mike Morrissey and Brett Moore each had two hits.

Freshman Joe Sweeney was the winning pitcher, hurling four innings in relief of starter Jason Pankau. Sweeney allowed two hits and struck out one while Pankau fanned six and allowed three hits in four innings of work.

The Titans open College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play with a doubleheader at Elmhurst on Saturday, March 28 at 1 p.m.
