IWU Loses Baseball Doubleheader

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SAUGET, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan baseball team lost a pair of games on Saturday, March 14 at the Webster Tournament in Sauget, Ill. The Titans lost to Webster, 10-9, before falling to Concordia Chicago by a 9-4 score.

In the opener, after falling behind 6-0 after four and trailing 9-5 after seven, the Titans scored two in the eighth and two in the ninth to force a 9-9 tie but lost 10-9 when Webster pushed across a run in the bottom of the ninth.
Junior Casey McIntosh had three hits, senior Kevin Goshorn had two hits, including a ninth inning home run, and drove in three runs, while Kraig Ladd, Bob Huppert and Billy Dillon all had two hits each. Dillon also had a home run and two RBI and Pat Kirchhofer had two runs batted in.
Marty Roche allowed two hits and a walk in one-third of an inning and absorbed the pitching loss.

In the second game, Concordia (4-6) scored two in the seventh and five in the eighth to claim the win. The Titans, who are 4-3 overall, banged out 12 hits led by two each from McIntosh, Ladd, Mark McDermott and Tim Marzec.

Kirchhofer was the losing pitcher, going 6 2/3 innings, striking out six and walking one.

The Titans continue their Southern trip, playing at Mississippi College on Monday, March 16.
