Jordan Zimmer scored a career-high 28 points as Illinois Wesleyan improved to 8-2 with a 96-67 win over Trinity (Texas) in San Antonio on December 28.
Zimmer was 10 of 14 from the field with five 3-pointers in 20 minutes of playing time while junior
Sean Johnson added 15 points and sophomore
Ryan Connolly provided 11 points and a game-high 11 rebounds in the game.
Zimmer's previous high game came last January 21 against North Park when he scored 22 points.
Junior
Dan Schouten corralled 10 rebounds as the Titans outrebounded Trinity 42-25.
Illinois Wesleyan trailed early in the game by eight points (10-2) but shot 56 percent (19 of 34) from the floor in the first half to claim a 56-33 halftime advantage. The Titans then went on to shoot 68 percent (17 of 25) in the second period and finished at a season-high 61 percent (36 of 59). The Titans also connected on 11 3-point field goals, a high for the 2009-10 season.
Luke Caldarera had 17 points and Gil Melchior had 16 for the Tigers, who fell to 2-6 this season.
