Zach Iannucci Year-by-Year Record
Zach Iannucci was hired in November 2012 to be the first men’s lacrosse coach at Illinois Wesleyan University, which started men's varsity competition in spring 2014. He begins his 13th season leading the Titans in 2025-26.
In his 12 season at the helm, Iannucci has turned the Green and White into one of the best collegiate lacrosse programs in the Midwest, having racked up an overall record of 154-48 (.762 winning percentage) with eight College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships (shared in 2016, outright in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025) and seven NCAA Division III Tournament appearancs (2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2023, 2024, 2025). Iannucci guided the 2021 team to the Elite Eight in the tournament, the furthest run in program history. His staff was chosen as the 2023 All-West "Coaching Staff of the Year" by the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association.
Iannucci's teams have a CCIW record of 50-4 (.926 winning percentage), and have won seven CCIW Tournament Championships (2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2023, 2024, 2025). Iannucci has been named the CCIW "Coach of the Year" four times, earning the honor in 2016, 2019, 2023, and 2025.
The Titans made their NCAA Tournament debut after claiming its first CCIW Tournament Championship in 2017. IWU defeated Aurora University 19-15 in its first NCAA Tournament contest, claiming its first win. IWU is 5-7 in the NCAA Tournament.
Since starting the Illinois Wesleyan men's lacrosse program, Iannucci has coached 12 USILA All-Americans (Bailey Marth, honorable mention in 2018 and 2019; Nick Winter, honorable mention in 2018; Will Rossi, honorable mention in 2019; Max Bousky, honorable mention in 2021; Rick Smith honorable mention in 2021 and 2022; Carson Kiichle, honorable mention in 2023; Gage Black, honorable mention in 2023 and 2024; Michael Campagna honorable mention in 2024; and Billy McHugh honorable mention in 2025); 29 All-Region selections; 81 All-CCIW honorees, and eight CCIW "Players of the Year" (James Maibuecher, offensive 2016; Michael Julius, offenisve 2017; J.C. Grabarek, co-defensive 2017, defensive 2018 and 2019; Rick Smith, offensive 2021; Max Bousky, defensive 2021; and Michael Campagna, defensive 2024).
Iannucci won his 100th game as the leader of the Titans May 15, 2021, coming in an 18-14 NCAA Tournament Second Round win over Hope College.
Prior to coming to Illinois Wesleyan, Iannucci was the defensive coordinator and assisted with recruiting and scouting at Oberlin College in 2012. In 2011, Iannucci served as the defensive coordinator at Hendrix College, helping the team set school records in wins, goals against, shots against, and face-off percentage. Iannucci began his coaching career at his alma mater, Lenape Regional High School, in 2008, where he served as an assistant coach. While on staff, the team won its first conference title and had the state's sixth-best defense.
A 2010 graduate with a degree in finance from Saint Joseph's University (Pa.), Iannucci earned a spot on the Hawk's varsity roster as a senior walk-on. Playing as a long-stick midfielder, he competed in club lacrosse for Saint Joseph's from 2007 to 2009.
A native of Mount Lauren, N.J., he was a three-time all-conference player, a two-time team captain, and was Lenape Regional's first four-year lacrosse letterman. Iannucci was an all-South Jersey selection and was nominated for high scholl All-American as a junior. Iannucci is married with three children, Zachary, Gabriel, and Bennett.
“My vision for Titan lacrosse is to compete at the highest level while providing student-athletes with a positive, challenging and rewarding environment that promotes and supports their success both on and off the field,” Iannucci said. “The immediate focus is to recruit strong academically strong, high-character student-athletes with the athletic ability to make significant contributions to the University and the lacrosse program,” said Iannucci.
