Meredith Mahoney was named Assistant Director of Athletic Communications Aug. 1, 2024 following a two-year stint as a graduate assistant in the department. She serves as the primary contact for the men's & women's volleyball, men's & women's tennis, and women's lacrosse programs.

During her time as a graduate assistant, Mahoney was  pivotal in the promotion and publicity efforts of Titan athletics. The Downers Grove, Ill. native's efforts led to Taylor French being named the AVCA Division III Player of the Week twice, the first student-athlete in program history to receive the honor. She also led the publicity of Britney Maldonado's record-breaking season that saw her named IWLCA Co-Offensive Player of the Week and the NCAA statistical national champion for assists per game. 

Mahoney was recognized as part of the College Sports Communicators Digital & Design Contests for her All-American video highlighting Taylor French's outstanding season. Mahoney's video received fifth-place honors in the Best of Division III Short Form Videos/Reels category and was one of more than 1,600 entries across all categories and divisions. In all, 454 designs earned top-five placings in this year's contest. The most popular contest across all divisions was Non-Game Day Graphics, while the best-performing new contest was Mahoney's winning category in Short Form Videos/Reels, which saw a total of 198 combined entries.

An active member of College Sports Communicators, Mahoney is a member of the Academic All-America committee and serves as Vice Chair of the Young Professionals committee. Mahoney and the rest of the IWU athletic communications team was nominated by peers for the D3SIDA Region 4 Communicator(s) of the Year award in the summer of 2024.

Mahoney came to IWU by way of Central College, where she was a three-year student worker in the Sports Information Department. A four-year member of the Dutch softball team, Mahoney was also involved in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. 

She graduated from Central with a bachelor's degree in actuarial science in May of 2022. She earned her master's degree in sports administration from Illinois State University in May of 2024.
