Assistant Coach Natalie Brunson-Wheeler enters her first season with Illinois Wesleyan during the 2022-23 school year. Brunson-Wheeler has prepared athletes in the sport of track and field for over 25 years. She began her coaching career as a sprints coach at University School of Nashville in 1990. After moving to Illinois in 1992 she’s held roles with several organizations coaching sprinters and hurdlers including the Heart of Illinois/Titans AAU Track and Field (2001 – 2010), Cornerstone Christian Academy (2008 – 2010), Central Catholic High School (2011 - 2012) and University High School of Normal (2012 – 2021).
 
Natalie holds coaching certification from the United States Track and Field Association and the United States Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association. Her certifications include: USATF Level I Track and Field; USATF Level II – Hurdles/Sprints/Relays; USATFCCA – Level I; USATFCCA Level II – Sprints/Hurdles/Relays; USATFCCA Strength and Conditioning.
 
Natalie is a graduate of Indiana State University and Vanderbilt School of Law. She serves as Counsel at State Farm Mutual Automobile Company working in government relations and public policy and has two sons – Austin and Aaron. Realizing a tradition of accomplishment, she fervently believes “service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.”
