Josh Kercheval joined the Illinois Wesleyan swimming and diving teams as an assistant in 2010-11.

He was a swimmier at Eastern Illinois University from 1999 to 2003 and was the Summit League "Swimmer of the Year" in 2001-02 and team captain in the 2002-03 season. He won nine conference championship races in his career.
Since 2008, when he started swimming open water/distance, he has won nine national master's championships.
