Patrick Freeman

Patrick Freeman was named head women’s golf coach at Illinois Wesleyan in June 2014, a role he held through the 2023-24 season. After 10 years at the helm, Freeman stepped into an assistant coaching role ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

During his decade-long run leading the Titans, the Green and White rewrote the program's record books and continued the program's tradition of national success. In the 2023-24 season, Freeman guided a team that set the team scoring record, posted the lowest rounds at a national championship in program laurels, and ultimately placed sixth at the NCAA Division III Championship.

Overall, IWU won seven CCIW Championships and saw three Titans claim medalist honors under Freeman's leadership. He coached the CCIW's inaugural Women's Golfer of the Year (Emma Thorman) and First Year Women's Golfer of the Year (Emily Gastrau) in 2023-24. Freeman was named the CCIW Coach of the Year seven times and his teams made seven NCAA Tournament appearances.

Freeman is a 2012 graduate of Division III Anderson University with a degree in exercise science and a minor in athletic coaching. For the Ravens, he earned one letter in golf and four in soccer.

A native of Anderson, Ind., he was a four-year letterman in both golf and soccer at Anderson High School and was an all-conference selection with multiple conference and sectional championships, one regional championship, and a semi-state appearance.

Freeman has achieved a certification through Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) where he can apply sport specific programs, clinics, and individual sessions through fitness and training. He is skilled in golf instructions and organizing clinics and leagues.

Patrick and his wife, Lauren, live in Bloomington, and are parents of Hayes and Charlie.
